Non-woven landscape fabric

Non-woven landscaping material, also known as non-woven geotextiles. They allow water to flow easily and are strong and durable for landscape drainage. Non-woven geotextiles are most often used as landscaping materials to provide adequate drainage, filtration, and soil stabilization.

These fabrics are available in light, medium, and heavy weights and have a felt-like feel.

Product Specifications

Nonwoven Landscape Fabric Grade by Weight in Grams:

Lightweight (2 oz to 3 oz)

High flow, base cushioning, and drainage field applications. 3 oz weights are commonly used behind retaining walls as a barrier between dirt and gravel.

Medium Weight (4 oz to 6 oz)

Medium weight nonwoven landscape fabric allows water to penetrate without displacing existing soil. It also helps control soil erosion, separation, and drainage functions (French drains). Additionally, we have seen these weighted fabrics used under gravel paths as a separating barrier between the gravel and soil below.

Heavy Weight (8 oz to 16 oz)

Heavy nonwoven landscape fabric is ideal for applications that require strength and permeability. They are more resistant to punctures and their durability makes them a good choice for retaining walls and artificial lakes under coarse gravel, geomembrane pads. Note that at the higher end of the weight range (over 10 oz), water flow is significantly reduced due to the thickness of the material.

Heavy nonwoven landscape fabric has also been used as a sand barrier under volleyball courts (8 oz) and to prevent ballast and soil from mixing under railroad tracks (16 oz).
