As the core component of electrostatic-fabric integrated precipitators, filter bags also represent the most valuable equipment within the system. Since filter bags are susceptible to oxidation and moisture in ambient air, their installation should be scheduled as close as possible to the official boiler startup. Typically, filter bags and cages are delivered one month before startup, with installation generally commencing after the boiler’s steam blowing process is completed.

Installation of Filter Bags

1.Prerequisites for Filter Bag Installation
1.1 Ensure the internal steel structure of the electrostatic-fabric integrated precipitator has been inspected and approved. Verify that no open-flame operations such as gas cutting or welding will occur after filter bag installation, as such activities can easily burn the bags.
1.2 Clean the pipelines of the dust cleaning system with compressed air to prevent debris from being blown into the filter bags and causing damage.
1.3 Schedule filter bag installation after processes such as boiler drying and steam blowing to avoid contamination from low-temperature, high-humidity, and high-oil flue gas, which can clog the pores of the bags and increase resistance.
1.4 Ensure conditions for pre-coating the filter bags are met, including connected flue gas systems, operational fans, and ready supplies of fly ash and coating equipment.
1.5 Verify that the compressed air lines are clear, the poppet valves and bypass valves operate smoothly, and the low-pressure system in the baghouse area is functional.
1.6 Thoroughly clean the clean air chamber, paying special attention to removing oily dust around the edges of the tube sheet holes.

The above requirements must be confirmed by the owner, supervisor, and on-site engineer before proceeding with filter bag installation.
2.Requirements for On-Site Handling, Lifting, and Storage of Filter Bags
2.1 Implement appropriate measures during handling, lifting, and storage to prevent damage to the filter bags.
2.2 Avoid using metal objects to bundle filter bags during lifting. Ensure the lifting process is stable and prevent accidental drops from heights.
2.3 The quantity of filter bags issued from storage should match the daily installation volume. The on-site storage area must be dry, level, and equipped with fire and rain protection.
3.Qualifications for Filter Bag and Cage Installation Personnel
Given the high unit cost and susceptibility to damage of filter bags, along with the limited spare parts and long procurement cycles for both bags and cages, it is essential to select meticulous, detail-oriented, and responsible personnel for installation. All relevant personnel must undergo training before commencing installation.
4.Filter Bag Installation Procedure
4.1 Insert the protective sleeve into the tube sheet hole (using the specialized sleeve provided by the filter bag manufacturer). The sleeve fabric must fully cover the entire circumference of the tube sheet hole edge.
4.2 Unpack the filter bag cartons inside the clean air chamber. Remove the outer packaging film, then slowly lower the filter bag bottom-first into the sleeved tube sheet hole. Once the bag opening reaches the tube sheet hole, remove the sleeve. Note: Avoid direct contact between the filter bag and rough steel structural components. If cartons cannot be brought into the clean air chamber intact, line any contact-prone areas with smooth, soft materials during transfer. Never allow the filter bag surface to impact sharp steel edges.
4.3 After carefully removing the sleeve, bend the filter bag’s elastic ring with both hands. Align the groove of the outer bag opening with the edge of the tube sheet hole (preferably with the seamed section contacting the hole first). Ensure even contact and gradually release the ring so it fits snugly and uniformly against the entire tube sheet hole circumference. If any section does not sit flush, gently tap the surrounding area with a rubber mallet until secure. Note: After installation, verify that the bag opening groove is properly seated and tensioned.
4.4 Install cages immediately after no more than three rows of filter bags are placed to prevent stepping on the bag openings.
